Tree Expedition news

Hello my fellow Howrsers!

I have one day left for school and then...holidays and christmas! Yay! I've got nearly 3 weeks of holidays ahead! What a bless! But let's see what's happening on Howrse...

Another uni foal! Woop woop! Promenade gave birth to filly Narcissa. She's in the other horses stable.

Tree expedition is going slow but it is moving. I was pretty surprised when Tanya and Fusion came back from a long trip with a tree that's prize is...the divine horse Balios. Erm...shouldn't I be getting them from very long trips? May be it's a surprise from Howrse, but I really don't care, cause right now I am just a plenty of ornaments away from getting my second ever divine. So close, yet so far. I am pretty sure I won't get him, but I will not lose hope and try my best without buying all these passes!

Also, I finally completed the first tree and got a Percheron mare. Well, why not start breeding them too! :D I renamed the Haflingers and Shires stable to From foundations, will keep and breed there horses who's foundations I own. I also happened to get another foundation Percheron mare from a friend who didn't need her. So now I have here two Percheron foundations, I gave them long snazzy names: Londonderry Beauty and Super Hot Pepper c:

Fusion finished in 800-something in the trot race Grand Prix this week! He is doing better! Thumbs up and let's hope for 500 soon! Tanya is still in training, but now has fancy GA coat, background and name c:

In today's Yay or Nay...

The Tree Expedition

Pros:
  • Possible to get prizes.
  • You can choose wheter you want bigger or smaller prizes(longer or shorter expeditions).
  • You can find ornaments in the Advent Calendar(see my earlier posts for a Yay or Nay!).
  • Not very time consuming.
Cons:
  • Rarer ornaments are hard to find.
  • Yet again, pass buyers have advantages.
  • Ornaments are found at random, you may not always get the ornaments you need.
  • You can't take care of your horses while they are on the find a tree trip.
The verdict:
The game is quite fun and not very time confusing, but requires work if you are determined to get the rewards and/or divines. This is a Tie.

That's it for this time! See ya!

Skillers!

Hi there!

I have completed another goal I have set for myself: I bred my first 4000 GP horse! She is little Arabian filly Avalanche, who has 4016.34 GP. But that's not it, just a few minutes ago, a second 4000 was born: filly Aliena has 4157.92 GP! It took me more than half a year to reach the heights, but I did it! Weeeee! Next goal: 5000!

Fusion has done a great job, but lately has dropped in Grand Prix results. And out of nowhere, I wanted another skiller. I found Tanya the Gypsy Vanner mare, who has 5209.71 GP, that is higher than Fusion's. I will start training her and we'll see what comes out, will keep you updated ;) Since she is a mare, I also have the chance to breed her for more skillers.

The Tree Expedition is a new event that has appeared next to Advent Calendar. You basically have to decorate christmas trees, you can find ornaments when winning comps with your horses etc. This event is still a little messy for me, especially the find a tree part, so I need to play it more before I can do a Yay or Nay :P

Also, I have changed the blog's look a little. Now it's more Howrsey, what do you think about it? c:

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

Great news from every side!

Hello there Howrsers!

Squeeee it's December and it means christmas! Are you guys already opening the windows of your advent calendars? Well, I am :D Love to get the little surprises from behind them, mine is modelhorse themed cx

Over the last few days we have reached 8000 visits! Thank you everyone! So you want a cake or something? Nah, this stuff comes at 10 000, so keep visiting :P

Remember, I was excited when I produced a 2300 GP Trakehner? Well, that's past now, cause the new boss in the Trakehners' court is Erebor, a colt with 2800 GP! My Trakehners love to surprise me and instead of slowly increasing the upper GP limit, they skip a few hundred at a time. Oh these little cuties *cuddle* c:

Also, a new event is on Howrse, but this Yay or Nay should summarise my opinion about it c:

Also, I found out that actually pros are supposed to be green and cons red...oh silly me! Still need to learn English :P

In today's Yay or Nay...

The Advent Calendar

Pros:
  • Finally, an event without the head starts for pass millionaires!
  • The simplest game ever made: you just have to click a window once a day.
  • Free items guaranteed once every day!
  • No need to hussle around with always something to do, you can calmly concentrate on your usual Howrsing.
Cons:
  • If you miss a day and still wish to receive the prize, you have to pay 10 000 equus.
The verdict:
This is ironically the best event Howrse has ever made! Really simple and doesn't suck up your time plus no work needed to get free items! This is a yay!

Thanks for reading!
See you!

Double the unicorns!

Hey guys! I have some great news! After months of unicorn drought, I managed to get 2 unicorn babies at once! These cuties are colt Kontador and filly Kismet. Kontador came first and I at first changed his gender cause I wanted a mare and I was pretty sure that the other foal was going to be a uni fail, but Serenade's foal turned out to be a filly and I reversed Kontador's gender again :P So happy for my uni foals c: All my unicorns are now in color collections stable, except Tranquil, because I already have a chestnut Hanoverian there.

How are things with World Championship? Let's say, I've never been so lazy with a Howrse event before in my life :D At first I always made sure all horses who enter have both bonuses but now I just throw them in :P And Fusion is only one who brings me wins. I really feel I could use a little break from events, but I need the items tho. I guess I just have to do something. In my opinion the best events are the lottery and cards, cause they are the easiest and require less work. Oh, BHF, why you so lazy suddenly? x.x

Anyways, thanks for reading!
See you in the game!

Hunting throphies!

Another blog post! Well, I've had more spare time cause teachers have not been so crazy with homeworks or I am just not so lazy anymore :P Anyways, I have some great stuff to tell ya about...

The World Championship! The game's concept is quite good, but...there are always "buts". Read more about them below from the Yay or Nay ;) Fusion, Shockwave and Euphoria(the latter two are my TWHs btw) are the only ones who have brought home first places so far. Amarita's best is a second place. There is no way I am spending passes for this shit(pardon for that, but really, Howrse has gone pass crazy over time with the events) so please encourage my horses! I will encourage all I happen to spot at the Help a friend section. Thanks! :)

I decided to breed Blackbird in hopes of getting a throphy horse. I bred her to the best available purebred Arabian stallion and the outcome is a beautiful black filly Basimah. 943.65 are her inborn skills, 3105.13 GP and 255 stars. I really hope she will be a good competitor one day! I used a Hera's pack so her identical twin sister Baseema is up for sale in the direct sales! Go get her, it's possible she may bring in many throphies in the future!

When I logged in today, I had a message from doglover21704 stating I was her 200th congratulator and had won a horse with 3* tack! The horse is a liver chestnut TB stallion named Apollo, 2345.32 GP. Of course I am keeping him, I love presents :3 He is in color collections stable as my first TB coat. Big thanks to doglover21704! I really appreciate this!

Winter is currently in Horns of plenty and I had two HOPs to spend! And of course, no Divine, the best prize I got was a bonus for the Grand Prix. Not so bad tho!

In today's Yay or Nay...

The World Championship

Cons:
  • Competitions! They are always nerve wracking yet fun!
  • Possible to win lots of prizes and a Divine horse!
  • Preparation, that gives your horse bonuses, is really easy to acquire. Even if you fail, you can always try again.
  • You can receive extra bonus when asking your friends.
  •  You can help friends receive bonuses by encouraging their horses.
  • You can buy tickets to receive bonuses immedealtly.
  • The competitions won't affect your horses in any way: they won't gain skills and won't lose energy, health or morale.
 Pros:
  • You have to pay if you want to ask bonuses from friends.
  • Tickets have many benefits, but they cost passes.
  • The progress is slow: you have to spend passes to have a chance of getting the Divine.
  •  You can only enter six horses a day for the competitions for free.
The verdict:
The concept is quite interesting and will keep you entertained for a while, though the chance of getting the Divine and bigger prizes is really small. This is Yay.

That's all for this time! See you around!

Color collections and exchanges

I am one of those people who will start thinking about christmas even before Halloween, so I am already eagerly waiting for snow and the holidays. Love to see the peace everywhere, as well as decorations on the houses and, the most of all, prestents under the tree! Yay! Okay, enough of chattering, let's get to Howrse...

I suddenly came up with an idea that I want to collect all the coats of all horse breeds(read it as: I want to have all the coat color throphies). I have several horses who I don't need, but they have rare coats and I can't sell them. So I deleted the Golden Apple stable and made a Color Collections stable. This is where I am going to keep all horses who I don't need, but still need because of their coats(well that totally made sense lol), so when I finish breeding a breed, then one representator of every color will go to that stable, others will be sold, get it? :) This work takes a lot of time so may be we can talk about the results in um...next ten years? :D Currently, I have three completed collections: Friesians, Arabians and Shires.

I've been going item exchange crazy in the last days because I discovered I have dozens of multiple BM items. I have made some pretty good deals: 3 Achilles' heels for a bonus pack, 2 Achilles' heels for 2 Apollo's lyres and Morpheus' arms for a Harmony pack. And right now I made two deals: 3 pieces of cloud for 2 Apollo's lyres and 2 Zeus' lightning bolts for a Horn of plenty. Ooooh that last one was sweet c: If you want to make an exchange with me then just ask! I have a lot of BM items I don't need. You may offer me customization items(Golden Apples, Harmony packs, 5th elements etc.), horn of plentys, Poseidon's, Bonus and Hera's packs, Aphrodite's tears...anyways, tell me what you have to offer, I'll consider almost anything :P

And if you wanna know who got the Harmony pack, then go and see her, click the link below(make sure you are logged in on Howrse!)

Halloween fun!

Happy Halloween everyone! I have a lot to tell you today c: So while you are not carving your pumpkins, take a look at these...

I've been spending my passes. First I bought the seal of Apocalypse and put it on Amarita. I really wanted Pestilentia, but got Bellum instead. That sucks, I always get the smallest bonuses. Actually, since Amarita is a comp horse, that skill bonus won't do bad c: Right now the Magic Hat promotion is on and that's how I am left with one pass right now :D I put it on Amaretto and got evil witch! Watch out, when you join a competition with Amaretto, he'll give you three penalty points! Mwahahaha! lol :D

Trakehners have reached the 3000 GP line and some have already broken the 4000 line. Of course I breed my mares to the best ones, I really hope some 3000s come out there! Fingers crossed!

How's things with Fusion, the GP prospect? Not as I expected. He excels at trot races and truly, has brought me home many throphies, but he is always in top 2000 in Grand Prix...Gotta train him more! I know, that one day we will get that 500...

 In today's yay or nay...

Trick or Treat

Cons:
  • Possible to win lots of prizes!
  • You can read the story of Buchephalus, when you are bored.
  • If you are out of treats, you can buy them from flash sales.
  • Simple and fun, the latter for young audience mostly.
Pros:
  • If you want to get more treats, you have to spend passes.
  • Flash sales treats are expensive.
  • Children may play a trick on you if you don't give them (right) treats.
  • The progress is slow, if you don't use passes or spend equus, you will not get the divine.
  • At one point, kids will start to pile up and you may not have enough treats.
 The verdict:
The game is really simple, but requires lots of money and passes if you want to aim for the divine and bigger prizes. This is a loss.

Yes, I was not so lazy this time and made a yay or nay, so please enjoy! :)

Happy trick or treating!

Grand Prix prospect

Heya! It's been a while again and I have quite a bunch of stuff to tell you about!

I have made a decision: If I want to get better results, I shall breed better horses and better horses don't come from mares that have a BLUP below 0. So I decided, that I won't breed my mares if their BLUP is negative. I'll wait if it turns positive. I will try that and see if I get better foals outta my mares.

I got my Arabian coats trophy! Hooray!

Pinatas are back! Yay! I am already on my third pinata, how about you? And as always, click my pinata please! c: I will try and click everyone's pinatas I happen to spot at the friends section. Fell free to friend me for pinata clicks! :)

And the fourth one is the most exciting news! Well, at least for me. I have been entering Amarita and Blackbird in Grand Prix comps for several weeks and I am pleased with them: both have managed to stay at the top 1000 and 2000. But we can always go better, right? c: So I looked at some of the winners' stats and decided to buy myself a future champion! And I found just the right one from the sales: Fusion, a pretty cherry bay KWPN gelding, 5000+ GP and 400+ stars! He was just 8000 equus(honestly, I expected them to cost more!). This is my first 5000+ GP horse! So I put all my bonus packs, Poseidon's packs and other stuff on him, if you want the best, you have to give him the best! With just half an hour he was fully trained and straight away won his first competition. That's my champ! :D I trained him another few days and today I entered him to the GP! Thumbs up and let's hope he will make it to top 500! That's my first goal! Will keep you updated on Twitter! :)

That's all for today! See you at the pinata party! :)

10 years of Howrse!

School has officially begun which means you will see new blog posts less often. 11th grade is the hardest in our school and I fully have to concentrate on studying. But can I go a day without Howrse? No!

Our favorite online horse game Howrse is now 10 years old! Here I personally want to thank the game creators and the crew who is all behind it. No other game has kept me playing for so long! A big salute for you all! *pours out the champagne*

A birthday event was running yesterday which consisted of reading the clues and finding candles. The clues were quite simple and as a reward for finding them all I got the Vintage Apple. I used it on Attila and she is now a beautiful palomino Arabian of the old version! Nice one, Howrse. If only all events would be so easy! :P

I often have great ideas for blog posts, but they always tend to dissapear when I get here...so see you next time when I get some :D

Breeding farm updates

Good morning! Or good evening!

You are probably wondering how are my Haflingers, Shires and others. No? Well, I'll still inform you about it.

BLUPping is a slow thing. I am just basically training, training, training my Shires and Haflingers, checking the BLUP-o-meter or whatever it is and it goes. So. Slow. I think I just need patience :P I entered Sunshine in several comps but she came back with 2 bronze throphies and a bunch of 5th placings. So, not yet.

About Arabians: Seems like Blackbird's line is dying out. I have already begun selling mares whose at least 3 last offsprings I have been forced to sell because they are not good enough for me. These all happen to be from Balckbird's line. I haven't bred Blackbird herself anymore. Yes, her offsprings have very good inborn skills, but that is not enough for me. I need them also to have a high GP. But if you would like an Arabian foal from her, feel free to mail me. You may choose the stallion ;) Rest assured, I am not gonna sell her, cause she still brings home golden throphies from the competition tracks. Amarita's line, in the other hand, is doing really well. All her offsprings are mine and so are her offsprings' offsprings.

My Trakehners have suddeny soared to the 2000+ GP skies. Best ones have about 2200 GP right now. And that means I will be selling foals with a GP below it, which means get ready to buy these lovely folks c:

In today's Yay or Nay...

The Great Challenge: Legendary horses.

Cons:

  • Bonuses for the next festivities!
  • If you feel bored, you can read a story about a Legendary horse.
  • Missions are moderately easy. While doing your everyday stuff, you may automatically have completed them.
  • If you are stuck with a mission, you may ask help from the community.
  • You can help the community with missions and in turn you receive lottery tickets.

Pros:

  • Getting the Divine means spending passes(real money).
  •  You have to pay a fair amount of equus if you want somebody to help you complete a mission.
  • Only several missions have the help option.
  • In order to get all the bonuses, you have to be online everyday and complete all the missions.

The verdict:

This event is quite easy and a great way to spend time. Though you may not get the Divine(unless you are a pass millionaire), you have a big chance to get other great items. This is a Win.

That's it for this time! See you!

1000 days on Howrse!

Today I reached the thousand. It came faster than I expected. Unbelievable, I've been playing Howrse for so long! And today, in honor of this day, I dedicate my blog post to history! I will tell you all about how did I find this game and how and when did it all start. Sit back and enjoy c;

On my profile, the registration day is 2011-03-15, which means I've been playing for a little more than four years. I would make it 5, because I had one account before it...

I remember when I started horse riding, I wanted to play all kinds of virtual horse games online too. So I spent days searching for them, making accounts and playing. My first serious play was on A Virtual Horse. I still have an account there, I last visited it a year ago :P It just is a tad too time consuming game in my opinion. At that time, it was 2010(if I remember right), I also found Howrse. I wanted to give it a go and made an account, as I had done with all of the appealing horse games out there.

When I registered, the game looked like this:

I don't remember almost anything from this time, I did have a palomino foal, cause, well, I still adore yellow horses :D I played it like a few days and then quit. I just got tired, like with many other games at that time.

A year later I somehow came back to that game, I just wanted to play again. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember the information of my first account and I created a new one. I have always struggled with usernames for my accounts and this time was no different. I did remember that a girl had a username HorseFreak on AVH and I decided to give it a go. It was taken, but it didn't take me long to come up with BigHorseFreak. And my account was born!

The site had gone through some major changes and horses had new looks too, remember these?

My first horse was a palomino overo Paint mare, who I named Reptos. When she reached 25 years, her health started decreasing, but I didn't know why did it happen at that time and I tought she was sick :P So I just sent her to Safe Haven to "end her pains". I regret it now and would still like to own my first horse. But I still always stroke her in the Safe Haven when she shows up, a good thing Howrse made this possible :)

My second horse was a Paint stallion named Lucky Strike, who I was forced to sell, because when you start out, it is easy to get low on budget. Suprisingly, he is still alive, name Lightning Dreams and owned by hockeyborch00. It's a great thing you haven't sent him to SH!

Throughout these years I have bred Irish Hunters, Shagya Arabians, Nokotas, and PSHs. I've also made stupid decisions as a beginner: I remember selling some RCs with 2000 equus! Holy moly! If I would have known better, I would right now probably still have them, as I usually give Philosopher's Stone to all my RCs.

And so has time passed with several pauses. I started this blog out quite early too, if I read old posts, I was breeding Irish Hunters back then, and I remember they were the first breed I bred seriously.

Here I want to thank people who have helped me even a tiny little bit in all those years. I know I have rarely asked for help, but still, are replies are appreciated. There have been people who have mailed me just congratulating how far I've made in this game. Big thanks to you too!

And now a one last funny story:
I clearly remember getting Jade, my first and only Divine. It was a stormy winter evening and the promotion for Jade in Horns of Plenty was on, and as always, I wanted to give it a go! I bought one, opened it and there was...Jade! And boom! The electricity shut down at the very next moment. What a perfect timing! I was just getting excited! It was quite a hard snowstorm outside and the electricity was down for two hours. When I returned next day, Jade was already in my stable. I remember being very frustrated all that evening because I couldn't go and see her!

Thanks for reading! I hope I'll last for another 1000 days and more!
Sincerely yours,
BHF

Colorful text! Yay!

Hey there! More weeks have passed by and I am now a year older and have a summer job...oh no, I have not forgotten Howrse and am happy to tell you what has happened this month :)

About Haflingers and Shires...I decided to start BLUPping them, so far I haven't kept track of it on any of my horses. I read some articles on the internet about how to do it and started trying. I couldn't resist the temptation and bred LM Sunshine twice...and got two colts. Daffy remains "untouched". I won't breed them before they reach 90 BLUP at least.

I decided to start a new series called Yay or Nay? So basically, it is me judging events on Howrse. I will bring out the best and the worst in each event and then summarize it, is this event worth playing or not. These are mostly my personal opinions and may differ from yours, so please respect it :)

In today's Yay or Nay...

The Water Balloon Fight

Cons:

  • Free gifts from your friends!
  • Possible rewards!
  • Even if you throw only a few balloons, you have almost a 100% chance of getting a small reward.

 Pros:

  • You can only throw a ball when you catch an UFO and that doesn't happen so often.
  • Getting the best rewards and Divines is almost impossible and may require hours of time spent online.
  • There is always a chance that your friends may not throw any balloons at you.

The verdict:

It is almost impossible to get any impressive prizes easily, but if you love to receive small gifts and give them to your friends, then this is your game :) This is a Tie.

Yay, I love the colors! You can comment below what do you think of it :P

Anyways, see you around!

Shire horses

Yet again, a new breed on Howrse, the Shire this time. And guess what? I got one filly from the summer ride. Why not Shires too next to Haflingers? I can keep them in the same stable...

Some time ago I bought a 5th element from the promotion and Noble Courage is now amongst Dream Horses as an air element horse. Phew, luckily not water again this time :P

Also, last crossbreds are up for auctions! Go get them! I also have a bunch of Arabian foals on auctions. Bid or mail me!

Sorry for it being so short this time, of course I can write a romance about each of the topics, but my mom wants me to scrub the windows clean now...

See ya!

The Grand Prix

How has your summer gone so far? I've had ups and downs. I managed to fall ill for the first time ever in summer. I've never been ill in summers before. Blame the bad weathers of Estonia :/

The good old board game event is again on Howrse. I don't even want to try to get that divine. I'll just move towards the gifts. So far I have gathered only aging points and equus.

And now to the title theme. I rarely participate in the Grand Prix competitions, but lately I have started to enter my best horse Amarita in these and she is doing fairly good. For example, this Monday in the trot race she placed 1504 among 4325 contestants. We're quite at the top :3

Amarita has been my dear one since I bought her. She gives really good offsprings and I am willing to spend more money on her. She excels in every disclipine and has got dozens of trophies. I didn't breed her, but I raised her and I feel proud :3

The poll has ended and no one voted...it must mean that you either don't care or you like my blog the way it is. Well then, I'll just continue it the same way as I have done so far.

I am putting my last crossbreds up for auctions but you may still mail me with your offers and reservations.

Thanks for stopping by!
Sincerely your
BHF

Decisions have been made!

Yes, I made up my mind about Haflingers. I decided to start breeding them :) I am now selling all my crossbreds, only keeping pregnant mares. I will sell them after they have their foals just to be sure I won't be selling 4000 GP foals with them.

So they all are on direct sales and some for auctions. Mail me for reservations and offers!

As soon as I have sold them all, I will delete the "Dream Horses" stable and move the residents to "Other horses," so I can create a stable for Haflingers. Would love to have some breeding partners, mail me if interested :)

Sincerely,
BHF

Haflingers!

A new breed Halfinger is on Howrse. I actually had no idea until I stumbled upon one in the underwater excavations. I got a palomino filly, so cute c:

Now I am thinking should I start breeding them? I would like to, but there are many different factors for and against it.

One really silly thing that holds me back is that I have maximum number of stables. This has kept me from breeding new breeds for a while. I could combine two breeds into one stable though.

If I would sell her, I could get a good amount of equus right now. If I wait too long her price will decrease so I have to decide fast.

I have many horses who right now are decreasing the number of my equus quite fast. More horses would just make it worse.

When I would sell my crossbreds I could get enough money and space for Haflingers. But I don't know if it is a good idea, cause I am about to reach 4000 GP goal with crossbreds and I have worked long for that.

I am the kind of person who loves to have many horses with different coat colors, but Haflinger has only 3 colors which means I will soon be bored.

Helping to make new breeds more skilled is a fun work in my opinion. I always love to help and later be proud that I've helped to achieve something.

Confusing, eh...?

Anyways, I am thinking about all this and will let you know when I have decided.

I hope it wasn't too boring :P

Sincerely,
BHF

Dive into the summer!

I did my final exam today and I feel so relieved! The summer can come now! No more studying! Yipee!

And with the summer a new event has come to Howrse - the underwater excavations. Yet again, the concept is pretty great, but really, I have to find 162 bones to get a divine. Geez, Ow just wants to make it so impossible! And of course if you are a pass millionaire, you can literally buy yourself that divine. Why? Why? Why? x.x

Well anyways I am going to play it, cause I never know when luck might struck...

And now the positive side :) Here is a list of my foals currently for sale. For reservations and offers mail me! All direct sales prices are negotiable!
Rustic Dream, Thoroughbred cross, colt, 631.12 inborn skills, 3454.36 GP, 289 stars. Auctions, starting price 1000e.
Bonaparte, Arabian(1% Lusitano), colt, 365.27 inborn skills, 2826.93 GP, 225 stars. Auctions, starting price 1000e.
Akera, Arabian(1% Lusitano), filly, 245.98 inborn skills, 2997.85 GP, 242 stars. Direct sales(2 days left!) 3000e.

That's all for this time! See you around!

A little pause from studies...

I am having the busiest time of the school year and have not had time to play every day, but I always try when I have some spare moments. Just. Two. More. Weeks x.x Feels like eternity.

Have you guys sometimes tripped over horses you've bred and then sold them? I just did and I was delighted to see a Trakehner with my affix on a competition list when I was entering my horse into comps. It just feels great that some horses do have a future after you sell them. May be I am just being pessimistic, but I think that 90% of horses that I sell are still a few hours old a year later. So it feels quite good to see that 10% around.

About the maze...so many blind corners! I keep picking the wrong roads x.x But oh well, at least it's fun lol. No sign of the new Percheron yet, but I won't cry if I won't find it.

Setting up a poll, cause I want to know what would you like to read about the most in my blog. Every kind of feedback is welcome!

And back to studies...wish me luck for that one final exam!

Sincerely yours,
BHF

The Maze Runner

A new kind of event has started, the maze. The concept is actually really interesting and I enjoy it. Amarita is my trustworthy pal on this road c: So far I have got a bridle and a fertility wand. With Amarita the energy recovers 5% with every hour, enough for it to fully recover in 24 hours, so I don't have to check this place like every hour. This time Howrse has hit the spot!

I am happy to announce that today a Trakehner foal was born with 2000+ GP! Wohooo! I did it! It came faster than I expected! So from now on I will be selling all foals who are born with less than 2000 GP. Keep an eye out if you want one of them! I will sell them through direct sales. Oh and the foal is palomino, so darn cute c:

Wishing you a happy day and good luck in the maze!

Think before you bid!

Pinatas are gone. I am so sad. I cri evritim. I made it to 11th pinata and I was hoping I would get the divine...lol nah!

Twitter started off great, but it's been quiet...okay, I confess I am lazy! And I usually just roll over Howrse quickly and don't have any time for tweeting. I tought this place would be great for small announcements from now on.

I organised a small comp on my EC. Go and check it out in the forum!

Let's get to the main part now. I have started checking on some horses lately that I have sold. I was quite dissapointed to see the latest two failed Hannoverian unicorns were put to safe haven almost immediately. I don't understand...why bid on a horse you don't actually need? There are people out there who would want one, but you just dump them away. May be I am overreacting, but hey, I don't only care about the money, I always put them up for sale hoping they will have great new homes. To be honest, I almost never use SH. I use it only when there is nothing else left to do. I use it when I have tried to sell a horse I don't need for a long time and I just can't keep it.

People, please have more respect in them. I know it is just a game, but I think I am not the only user who sometimes loves to check if horses they bred have accomplished something. Please THINK before you bid or buy. I do that everytime I buy a horse. And those who I have bought, have always found a good home.

Thank you for reading!

The Howrse Events: The return of Pinatas

Dat title tho :P

Yes, pinatas are back! I have to admit, pinata has always been my favorite event after Wandering horses. I am always eager to get the divine, which I am sure I will not get because when did I last win one??

So yeah, I eagerly started doing quests and then came...bed down a pony for 1 point. I checked my crossbreds and I don't have any ponies! I was so desperate I went to direct sales and bought the first cheapest pony who galloped onto my search roads. So here he is: Nouble Courage, a Chincoteague pony, got him for 5000 equus. And I got my one point. I decided to keep him so I could use him in the future if such quests should come.

And as always...I beg you to friend me and click onto my pinata! I click absolutely ALL my friends' pinatas if I find one in the help a friend section. Thanks a lot!

See you around!

What's been going on

Okey, blame the school again and lack of ideas! And you know why. Luckily, I've had time to actively play on Howrse and here is a little summary what I've been doing lately.

First, the spring rainbow cards event is here and I am only 2 diamond cards away to get the divine Charming Red! I so hope I will be lucky this time, cause Jade feels so lonely...

Second, I today castrated all stallions in the other horses stable. My aim is to breed winners not breeders there and castrating gives them a few more skills. I think that is a smart idea, because no one really wants to cover purebred mares with crossbred ones, at least that's what I think. So from now on, my crossbred stallions will all face castration *snips the scissors*

Third, I now put foals I don't want up for direct sales, because I have discovered that this way they'll sell faster. If within a week no one wants the little one, I will put him/her up for auction. All prices are negotiable, feel free to make an offer or mail me for reservations!

Thanks for reading and see you again in 2 weeks if school doesn't stop strangulating me!

Unicorns - yay or nay?

You already know that lack of time(and ideas!) is the main problem I rarely post here. But enjoy this little post that I had time to write now.

Soooh...unicorns, yay or nay? I'd say they are somewhere in the middle because of what happened with me a week ago.

So all my three uni mares were ready to be covered at the exact same time and I had 3 windows open and was ready to click. When I was choosing the stallions, I was surprised to see only 3 stallions offering coverings with prices that would cost me 6000 equus as total for each! Yeah, it gave me eye twitches, but since I had missed the right covering time for ages and was there now in the right time, I decided to take the risk. These were uni stallions with quite good skills and I hoped I would at least get one unicorn.

And guess what happened? None of them were unicorns! I was so dissapointed! But to be sure I get 100% all my money back, I put the foals up for direct sales with their covering prices, luckily they went fast. I have my money *dollar eyes*

So unicorns may not always be so "cool", "awesome", "cute". They may eat all your money.

Equestrian centers update

Last update to equestrian centers was a big one. Lots of things have changed and I am gonna give my opinion on them now. Feel free to comment yours below :)

Few months ago, the employment feature was erased and we can't receive salaries with jobs anymore. Now we are getting money automatically every day when we log on. I think this is a good solution, because everyone are now quaranteed a 1000 equus "salary". The new employment system however, doesn't really make me a happy camper. I hate that I have to buy employees for passes and they last only for several weeks! I would understand more if they would last a year or forever, but few weeks for a pass? No. Not all of us can buy passes for real money. However, I do like the fact that they can be won trough UFOs and competitions, I already have got 2 :P

I personally like the workshops addition. I no more have to spend my money in shops to get stuff I need for my center, I just collect enough material from UFOs and missions with horses and voila! I can craft items without any fees! Only minus is, that showers and all those more imortant stuff take a lot of resources to make, so if you have many boxes and meadows, it takes time to fulfill all their needs.

So this is all for now and I hope you liked it :)

Secret to my success!

So today I am gonna reveal how I train horses to the top c: This here is my way, you may use it, I am not jelly :)

It all starts with a little foal. Already in their foalhood I play with them as much as their energy allows me. Do not worry, if you feed, drink, stroke and give a carrot, the energy will get back to over 20%.

When the foal grows into a youngster, I take it to rides. Again, I use as much energy as possible. I have my own order on rides too: Forest, moutain, forest and so on. Better horses will get quite a handful of skills from this.

When the training starts, I will start training each skill one by one and starting with the best inborn skill and going lower. And I still use max energy to progress faster. I use Chronors' Timer on best horses only who have potential for a good competitive career in the future.

I won't start competing before all the skills are fully trained. Then I start looking at which discipline the horse is good at. I start with every day taking part of all the competitions once. The discipline(s) the horse wins at the most will be the disciplines it will tackle for the rest of it's life.

When the horse reaches 20, it's skills will start decreasing, which usually means less throphies from competitions. If it's a stallion, then he will offer one covering every day and rest of the energy goes for competitions. Mares will usualy continue full time competing. If the horse reaches 25, it's health starts decreasing and this is the place where I usually abandon competing cause health is the biggest factor in competing. Stallions will then every day participate in a lesson and rest of the energy will go for covering offers. Mares then also abandon competing and will do lessons also. This routine will last until the end of their life.

So this is how I do it! If you have any tips for me then feel free to share them in the comments section.

Thanks for reading!

Save the Trakehners!

Today, when I was going to breed my Trakehner mare Emery I came to huge surprise when I searched for purebred Trakehner stallions. There were less than 10 covering offers! Usually there are 3 pages but under 10!? Are people losing interest in Trakehners?

Anyways, I am not losing interest in them. I wanna keep this lovely breed alive in Howrse! So today, all my mature Trakehner stallions offer 1 covering each for 500 equus! Of course, you may any time mail me, when you want a reservation. This applies on all of my stallions.

So please, lets keep this breed alive and start breeding Trakehners today!

Thanks!

Foals for sale

Just stopped by to say that I have several foals up for auction!

Arabian filly Belle, Friesian cross filly Balery and Hannoverian twin colts Lord and Louis. Go bid or mail me!

Let's get into your minds!

First off, a moment of silence for Emperor's last day with us...

I am getting a pass soon! Lol how evil :D

I have many Arabian foals I don't need up for auction. Go check them out at Arabian horses tab. Bid or mail me for reservations.

And today I'll share you some tips :)

This time it's something more pshychological. I am sure we all have been at that point in the game where you just want to give up because you will never get those GP wins, number one ranking or divines. I've had these points too. But you see, I have never given up. If I get that feel, I close Howrse and/or my laptop and go and do something else that gets my mind off this game for a while.

It is really hard job to reach the top, nobody has ever gone there with just a snap. There is years of work behind it. And think it trough: do you really want to be on the top? Of course it feels good to be the best, but you will face full mail box with fanmails, questions and may be some insults(some can go very low) every time you log in. Answering and reading them takes all night! Also, going to the top means owning thousands of horses, taking care of them all is a task that needs a lot of time and patience. Needless to say, you also have to spend real money because of all the passes and stuff.

May be you realise, that going for the top at any cost isn't for you. You are happy as an average level user. Remember, what ever happens, please don't go and insult the best ones. I've seen and even used myself banners that criticise best users. I regret it. Please don't you do that, because if you'll one day may be reach the top, you don't want to be treated the same way, do you?

I gave my best, so don't be mad if (you think) I am talking bullshit :P

Thank you for your attention!

Titan's challenge

Sorry for not posting. I am always very busy in school time.

Today I tried the Titan's challenge for the first time ever. It is possible to win Dew from there right now. On my first try, the prizes(Haromy pack, 5th element...) got only sweeter with each level and I kept clicking the next level button. I ended up with Poseidon's pack and a bunch of basic items...I didn't want to give up so easy, so since I had a lot of diamonds I bought a second one. This time I stopped at level 5. Not so good prices as before, but at least I got the 5th element too this time. I used it on Spectra and she got water element, that Amarita already has *shrug*

One of my Uni's had a failed uni birth today and that little filly Dancer is up for auction, starting price 1000 equus. She is a purebred Hannoverian and has inborn skills. I also got an Arabian filly, who I don't need. She is also up for auction with the same price, the name is Belle. Go bid or mail me.

Sincerely,
BHF

*Insert a fab title*

It's been a very busy first week of school after the holidays. Haven't had time to post my progress on Howrse, my apoligies. But let's get to the thing now...

Last Arabian auctions were successful and I sold all three. This time I have one stallion named Biscuit and two mares Bellini and Andromeda up for auction! Go bid or mail me for a reservation!

Today Hestia's Gift unicorn was born! It is a chestnut filly(YAS!). I named her Serenade c:

Snowball fight has started! Friend me and I'll send you at least one snowball. You'll send me one too, right, right? c:

That's all for this time!

Magic Ride luck

I haven't gotten very far in the magic ride, but today I got an Elven gift. And guess what was inside this? Hestia's gift! Yay! I gave it to Promenade, now I am going to get another uni :3

Another triple of Arabians went for auction today. Last time Best Boy and Blopping Rain didn't get any bids, so they are up again with lower starting prices. New one is Bonita, a 5% cherry bay coat mare. She is breedable right away. Her starting price is 1000 equus. Bid or mail me!

Sincerely your

New year with a few tips

First of all, I wanna wish you all out there happy new year and may it be better than ever!

I am sure everybody has faced that problem at least once in Howrse: what name to give a horse? When I started out, this was quite a problem for me and some horses got really weird names. (Remember the PSHs? Some of them had names that didn't make any sense at all!) But now I have gained knowledge and worked out some systems and I am glad to share them with you.

When I returned to Howrse last year(2014, cause it's 2015 now, remember? :P), I had learned about how they name horses in real life. This method differs in almost every breed. In Europe, most warmblood breeds' names start with their sire's name's first letter. One exception, that I know is with the Trakehner breed. Their names start with their dam's name's first letter. The same rule goes with Arabians. I use that system with my purebred Trakehners and Arabians in the game. This system doesn't count on crossbred horses. I don't know about other horse breeds, but in the game I use the European warmbloods rule with them.

This rule seems so simple and at first you may burst with many name ideas, but eventually there comes a point where you are out of ideas. That's when I use this site:

  http://www.horses-and-horse-information.com/horsenames/a.shtml

On this site are many horse names, you just pick the letter and you get a huge list of names. This place has always helped me out.

I may be wrong and I don't know much about naming Thoroughbreds, but I have noticed that there are almost no rules in naming them. For example, let's say that the sire's name is Black Racer and dam is Little Princess. Sometimes the offspring's name is a combination of it's parents'(like Black Princess or Little Racer), and sometimes the name is something completely different, that hasn't anything to do with it's parents' name. This is according to my researches and from what I have seen, please correct me if I am wrong.

I hope this helps you out a littlebit at least :)

And one more thing: I am willing to sell my GA horse Naughty One. He is a purebred Lusitano stallion. He has the kind of GA coat that can't be used with Helios' Ray, so I think it is rare. Mail me and make your offer! You can visit him in the Golden Apple Horses stable, he is the first there.

Regards,
BHF
