Halloween fun!

Happy Halloween everyone! I have a lot to tell you today c: So while you are not carving your pumpkins, take a look at these...

I've been spending my passes. First I bought the seal of Apocalypse and put it on Amarita. I really wanted Pestilentia, but got Bellum instead. That sucks, I always get the smallest bonuses. Actually, since Amarita is a comp horse, that skill bonus won't do bad c: Right now the Magic Hat promotion is on and that's how I am left with one pass right now :D I put it on Amaretto and got evil witch! Watch out, when you join a competition with Amaretto, he'll give you three penalty points! Mwahahaha! lol :D

Trakehners have reached the 3000 GP line and some have already broken the 4000 line. Of course I breed my mares to the best ones, I really hope some 3000s come out there! Fingers crossed!

How's things with Fusion, the GP prospect? Not as I expected. He excels at trot races and truly, has brought me home many throphies, but he is always in top 2000 in Grand Prix...Gotta train him more! I know, that one day we will get that 500...

 In today's yay or nay...

Trick or Treat

Cons:
  • Possible to win lots of prizes!
  • You can read the story of Buchephalus, when you are bored.
  • If you are out of treats, you can buy them from flash sales.
  • Simple and fun, the latter for young audience mostly.
Pros:
  • If you want to get more treats, you have to spend passes.
  • Flash sales treats are expensive.
  • Children may play a trick on you if you don't give them (right) treats.
  • The progress is slow, if you don't use passes or spend equus, you will not get the divine.
  • At one point, kids will start to pile up and you may not have enough treats.
 The verdict:
The game is really simple, but requires lots of money and passes if you want to aim for the divine and bigger prizes. This is a loss.

Yes, I was not so lazy this time and made a yay or nay, so please enjoy! :)

Happy trick or treating!

Grand Prix prospect

Heya! It's been a while again and I have quite a bunch of stuff to tell you about!

I have made a decision: If I want to get better results, I shall breed better horses and better horses don't come from mares that have a BLUP below 0. So I decided, that I won't breed my mares if their BLUP is negative. I'll wait if it turns positive. I will try that and see if I get better foals outta my mares.

I got my Arabian coats trophy! Hooray!

Pinatas are back! Yay! I am already on my third pinata, how about you? And as always, click my pinata please! c: I will try and click everyone's pinatas I happen to spot at the friends section. Fell free to friend me for pinata clicks! :)

And the fourth one is the most exciting news! Well, at least for me. I have been entering Amarita and Blackbird in Grand Prix comps for several weeks and I am pleased with them: both have managed to stay at the top 1000 and 2000. But we can always go better, right? c: So I looked at some of the winners' stats and decided to buy myself a future champion! And I found just the right one from the sales: Fusion, a pretty cherry bay KWPN gelding, 5000+ GP and 400+ stars! He was just 8000 equus(honestly, I expected them to cost more!). This is my first 5000+ GP horse! So I put all my bonus packs, Poseidon's packs and other stuff on him, if you want the best, you have to give him the best! With just half an hour he was fully trained and straight away won his first competition. That's my champ! :D I trained him another few days and today I entered him to the GP! Thumbs up and let's hope he will make it to top 500! That's my first goal! Will keep you updated on Twitter! :)

That's all for today! See you at the pinata party! :)

10 years of Howrse!

School has officially begun which means you will see new blog posts less often. 11th grade is the hardest in our school and I fully have to concentrate on studying. But can I go a day without Howrse? No!

Our favorite online horse game Howrse is now 10 years old! Here I personally want to thank the game creators and the crew who is all behind it. No other game has kept me playing for so long! A big salute for you all! *pours out the champagne*

A birthday event was running yesterday which consisted of reading the clues and finding candles. The clues were quite simple and as a reward for finding them all I got the Vintage Apple. I used it on Attila and she is now a beautiful palomino Arabian of the old version! Nice one, Howrse. If only all events would be so easy! :P

I often have great ideas for blog posts, but they always tend to dissapear when I get here...so see you next time when I get some :D

Breeding farm updates

Good morning! Or good evening!

You are probably wondering how are my Haflingers, Shires and others. No? Well, I'll still inform you about it.

BLUPping is a slow thing. I am just basically training, training, training my Shires and Haflingers, checking the BLUP-o-meter or whatever it is and it goes. So. Slow. I think I just need patience :P I entered Sunshine in several comps but she came back with 2 bronze throphies and a bunch of 5th placings. So, not yet.

About Arabians: Seems like Blackbird's line is dying out. I have already begun selling mares whose at least 3 last offsprings I have been forced to sell because they are not good enough for me. These all happen to be from Balckbird's line. I haven't bred Blackbird herself anymore. Yes, her offsprings have very good inborn skills, but that is not enough for me. I need them also to have a high GP. But if you would like an Arabian foal from her, feel free to mail me. You may choose the stallion ;) Rest assured, I am not gonna sell her, cause she still brings home golden throphies from the competition tracks. Amarita's line, in the other hand, is doing really well. All her offsprings are mine and so are her offsprings' offsprings.

My Trakehners have suddeny soared to the 2000+ GP skies. Best ones have about 2200 GP right now. And that means I will be selling foals with a GP below it, which means get ready to buy these lovely folks c:

The Great Challenge: Legendary horses.

Cons:

  • Bonuses for the next festivities!
  • If you feel bored, you can read a story about a Legendary horse.
  • Missions are moderately easy. While doing your everyday stuff, you may automatically have completed them.
  • If you are stuck with a mission, you may ask help from the community.
  • You can help the community with missions and in turn you receive lottery tickets.

Pros:

  • Getting the Divine means spending passes(real money).
  •  You have to pay a fair amount of equus if you want somebody to help you complete a mission.
  • Only several missions have the help option.
  • In order to get all the bonuses, you have to be online everyday and complete all the missions.

The verdict:

This event is quite easy and a great way to spend time. Though you may not get the Divine(unless you are a pass millionaire), you have a big chance to get other great items. This is a Win.

That's it for this time! See you!

1000 days on Howrse!

Today I reached the thousand. It came faster than I expected. Unbelievable, I've been playing Howrse for so long! And today, in honor of this day, I dedicate my blog post to history! I will tell you all about how did I find this game and how and when did it all start. Sit back and enjoy c;

On my profile, the registration day is 2011-03-15, which means I've been playing for a little more than four years. I would make it 5, because I had one account before it...

I remember when I started horse riding, I wanted to play all kinds of virtual horse games online too. So I spent days searching for them, making accounts and playing. My first serious play was on A Virtual Horse. I still have an account there, I last visited it a year ago :P It just is a tad too time consuming game in my opinion. At that time, it was 2010(if I remember right), I also found Howrse. I wanted to give it a go and made an account, as I had done with all of the appealing horse games out there.

When I registered, the game looked like this:

I don't remember almost anything from this time, I did have a palomino foal, cause, well, I still adore yellow horses :D I played it like a few days and then quit. I just got tired, like with many other games at that time.

A year later I somehow came back to that game, I just wanted to play again. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember the information of my first account and I created a new one. I have always struggled with usernames for my accounts and this time was no different. I did remember that a girl had a username HorseFreak on AVH and I decided to give it a go. It was taken, but it didn't take me long to come up with BigHorseFreak. And my account was born!

The site had gone through some major changes and horses had new looks too, remember these?

My first horse was a palomino overo Paint mare, who I named Reptos. When she reached 25 years, her health started decreasing, but I didn't know why did it happen at that time and I tought she was sick :P So I just sent her to Safe Haven to "end her pains". I regret it now and would still like to own my first horse. But I still always stroke her in the Safe Haven when she shows up, a good thing Howrse made this possible :)

My second horse was a Paint stallion named Lucky Strike, who I was forced to sell, because when you start out, it is easy to get low on budget. Suprisingly, he is still alive, name Lightning Dreams and owned by hockeyborch00. It's a great thing you haven't sent him to SH!

Throughout these years I have bred Irish Hunters, Shagya Arabians, Nokotas, and PSHs. I've also made stupid decisions as a beginner: I remember selling some RCs with 2000 equus! Holy moly! If I would have known better, I would right now probably still have them, as I usually give Philosopher's Stone to all my RCs.

And so has time passed with several pauses. I started this blog out quite early too, if I read old posts, I was breeding Irish Hunters back then, and I remember they were the first breed I bred seriously.

Here I want to thank people who have helped me even a tiny little bit in all those years. I know I have rarely asked for help, but still, are replies are appreciated. There have been people who have mailed me just congratulating how far I've made in this game. Big thanks to you too!

And now a one last funny story:
I clearly remember getting Jade, my first and only Divine. It was a stormy winter evening and the promotion for Jade in Horns of Plenty was on, and as always, I wanted to give it a go! I bought one, opened it and there was...Jade! And boom! The electricity shut down at the very next moment. What a perfect timing! I was just getting excited! It was quite a hard snowstorm outside and the electricity was down for two hours. When I returned next day, Jade was already in my stable. I remember being very frustrated all that evening because I couldn't go and see her!

Thanks for reading! I hope I'll last for another 1000 days and more!
Sincerely yours,
BHF

Colorful text! Yay!

Hey there! More weeks have passed by and I am now a year older and have a summer job...oh no, I have not forgotten Howrse and am happy to tell you what has happened this month :)

About Haflingers and Shires...I decided to start BLUPping them, so far I haven't kept track of it on any of my horses. I read some articles on the internet about how to do it and started trying. I couldn't resist the temptation and bred LM Sunshine twice...and got two colts. Daffy remains "untouched". I won't breed them before they reach 90 BLUP at least.

I decided to start a new series called Yay or Nay? So basically, it is me judging events on Howrse. I will bring out the best and the worst in each event and then summarize it, is this event worth playing or not. These are mostly my personal opinions and may differ from yours, so please respect it :)

In today's Yay or Nay...

The Water Balloon Fight

Cons:

  • Free gifts from your friends!
  • Possible rewards!
  • Even if you throw only a few balloons, you have almost a 100% chance of getting a small reward.

 Pros:

  • You can only throw a ball when you catch an UFO and that doesn't happen so often.
  • Getting the best rewards and Divines is almost impossible and may require hours of time spent online.
  • There is always a chance that your friends may not throw any balloons at you.

The verdict:

It is almost impossible to get any impressive prizes easily, but if you love to receive small gifts and give them to your friends, then this is your game :) This is a Tie.

Yay, I love the colors! You can comment below what do you think of it :P

Anyways, see you around!

Shire horses

Yet again, a new breed on Howrse, the Shire this time. And guess what? I got one filly from the summer ride. Why not Shires too next to Haflingers? I can keep them in the same stable...

Some time ago I bought a 5th element from the promotion and Noble Courage is now amongst Dream Horses as an air element horse. Phew, luckily not water again this time :P

Also, last crossbreds are up for auctions! Go get them! I also have a bunch of Arabian foals on auctions. Bid or mail me!

Sorry for it being so short this time, of course I can write a romance about each of the topics, but my mom wants me to scrub the windows clean now...

See ya!
